ChartBite - Sunday April 26th
Welcome to ChartBite, a new weekly roundup of the headline stories on the brand new UK singles and albums charts.
A little bit of history is made on the singles chart as for the first time ever the Number One single is indeed Number 1, this being the title of the hit single by Tinchy Stryder and N-Dubz. The track is the second chart smash of the year for the diminutive Londoner, following up 'Take Me Back' which was a Top 3 hit back in February.
The second highest new entry goes to 'Rubber Love' by Marmaduke Duke, the side project formed by Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro and his close friend JP Reid from fellow Scottish rock band Sucioperro. The single is short and sweet but has been praised to the hilt by reviewers everywhere. The second concept album from the group is due out next month.
On the album chart Lady Gaga holds firm with 'The Fame' but her strongest challenge comes from Depeche Mode's 'Sounds Of The Universe' which slots in at Number 2. It is their highest charting album since 1997 when 'Ultra' was a Number One.
Check back later for Chart Watch UK which will have the full story behind all the big new hits of the week.

Any idea where Duke Special is in the UK Album Charts this week, as the album was released there last monday. Secondly from an irish perspective in 1990, the christmas no. 1 in the irish singles charts, was indeed a song called Christmas Number 1 (by those loveable aliens Zig & Zag.
I much prefered the longer in-depth chart watch :(
Well I haven't felt prompted to sign in and comment in months now, so no that i'm here i may as well make the most of it.
I'm liking the la roux song, i hope it can have some success in australia, but i know it won't.
Not a fan of the #1 song, nor the previous one (calvin harris), but hey, this is good for dance music, it is well and truly back (for now anyway).
'Jai ho' has finally made #1 in australia to become the Pussycat Dolls' 2nd ever #1 behind don't cha.
'Right round' and 'love story' are still top 3 here, and i'm getting really sick of both. We also still have 'sex on fire' in the top 40, but thank god 'use somebody' left it this week, and revelry is set to leave it soon (my fave kings of leon song), and manhattan should be entering it next week.
Here their album is 8 times platinum and still in the top 5, while lily allen recently regained #1 on there, but this week sees Ronan Keating debut at the top stop.
Onto eminem now, 'we made you' is actually really growing on me, i know the formula is a little same old same old, but hey it's still catchy. Way better than 'crack a bottle'.
Huntj008 would be happy to hear that in australia 'break even' by the script has actually gone top 20 this week (#18), and is currently sitting at #11 on the itunes chart, so i can see this getting close to top 10, and maybe cracking it, which amazes me seeing as 'the man who can't be moved' only made it to #44, which in my opinion is a much better song. Hopefully it can get a re-release and get some good airplay this time.
Other than that, not much is going on in australian charts.
One final note, i'm so happy to see Keri Hilson gain some success with my favourite song of hers. It only made it to #80 in australia a few weeks back.
