Chart Bite - Sunday November 1st 2009
It is another six figure sale for Cheryl Cole as she remains on top of the UK singles chart for a second week with 'Fight For This Love'. With the release of her debut solo album '3 Words' she also becomes only the 12th solo female to manage a singles and albums chart double as the long player easily storms to the summit as well, despite some early sales hiccups that saw the album briefly unavailable on iTunes and accidentally given away for free on last.fm.
It means that the two big singles releases of the week are reduced to second and third place respectively - Westlife entering at Number 2 with their first new single for two years 'What About Now' and Jay Sean arriving at Number 3 with 'Down', the single that gave him a celebrated American Number One last month.
The second highest new entry on the album chart almost inevitably goes to Michael Jackson with 'This Is It', the "soundtrack" to the concert film that went on limited release this week. Although containing very little material that isn't either already available or of interest only to collectors, the album is possibly more essential than it otherwise would be thanks to the inclusion of the previously unreleased title track 'This Is It' which the label has chosen not to make available for single download and so can only be obtained by purchasing the album.
More on the week's big chart stories coming later in the full Chart Watch UK. Warning: contains potentially unaccepable levels of Miley Cyrus.

She always refers to us, the English side of the family
as "you guys".
So I think that guyhomie is an American person who is not happy with 'us' making Cheryl Cole the no.1 single and album this week. I am not personally guilty of doing this so back off guyhomie. You guys (Americans) have flooded our charts with Kanye West and Jay Z this year, so who really has bad taste? Cheryl is also very attractive.
