Soprano’s Journey to the top of the pods

Posted Tue 11 Nov 2008 1:15PM GMT by Mitch Carter in The Guestlist
Kings of stadium rock Journey have notched up a remarkable achievement with their 1981 rock anthem Don't Stop Believin'. The track has become the biggest selling catalogue track on the digital download store iTunes.

Although Don't Stop Believin' only appeared as a digital download in April 2003, it has rocketed to the top of the catalogue chart with sales of over 2million units. Catalogue tracks are defined as songs originally released in the pre-digital era but later re-released as a digital download.

It's thought the renewed popularity of the track is due to its use on the final episode of HBO's mob drama The Sopranos. Sales of the track soared in the week following the airing of the final episode.

SPOILER ALERT. We've posted the final scene of The Sopranos which features Don't Stop Believin' below.

I've realy gotta question Americans musical tastes, the song and tune is dull and boring and beside who outside of tone deaf USA have ever heard of this song or band. "Kings of stadium rock" they are not Don't make me have to give yoou a lesson in good stadium rock bands!! They said this is an old 80's song, It shoulda stayed there that was the worse decade for music ever, why oh why revive it?
Also it is only popular with itunes users!!

Journey were a good band in their day but whether the music holds up now to a modern audience is debatable.

I like it because I'm an old bast'rd as well....

where were ya's before the song got big agai???,bunch of idiots that only know the song because it was in a t.v show, leave it to the real fans who really did support the band over the yrs

Anyone who knows anything about music will know that Journey are bigger than The Sopranos and Scrubs put together - and that is why Don't Stop Believin' is at the top of this chart. What a ridiculous claim.
