Mallett's Miming Misfortune
Mallett's vocals were "shunted into the background" whilst the lead was instead sung by teacher Everton Barnes as Mallett was considered to be tone deaf by the record's producers.
Speaking to the Sun newspaper Everton said: "His voice was as flat as a punctured pancake.
"There was no way that the record company could release it as it was. I sang the whole vocal track and Timmy's was shunted into the background."
Everton, who is now a deputy headmaster, decided to spill the beans when Timmy appeared in the jungle.
"I've decided to speak out as I feel it's a great shame Timmy is going around singing the song when he knows it's not his voice on it.
"It was even my idea to insert the ‘Oh yeahs' and now Timmy is going around shouting ‘Oh yeah' in the jungle as if it was all down to him." said Everton.
Do you think Timmy Mallett was right to claim that he sang the lead vocal on the record or was he right to keep quiet?

Timmy will always remind me of those halcyon days whether he sang it or not.
i grw up on watching his programmes..
This man is running a dry story and was probably only paid about £20.
Personally, I would rather hang my head in shame than admit it was actually me singing it, for bring such a rubbish song into the world.
At least Mallett recognises just how terrible it was and can laugh about.
Im sure that Mr Mallett would give Everton all the credit he seem to think he deserves for it.
