19-year-old Italian heavy metal singer Cristina Balzano has been arrested for stabbing the guitarist in her band Soul Cry after he fluffed a guitar riff.

Balzano allegedly stabbed the 16-year-old guitarist for playing the wrong notes during a rehearsal session after accusing him of "sounding evil".

Balzano has now been charged by Genovese police for attempted murder.

The incident is not the first altercation to affect the heavy metal scene.

Founder of Norwegian black metal outfit Burzum, Varg Vikernes is currently in jail in for the murder of Øystein Aarseth, guitarist for rival metal band Mayhem. Although his motive was unclear, the murder is though to have been "a power struggle between rival leaders of the Satanic circle".

British rockers Iron Maiden were famously pelted with eggs by Sharon Osbourne and her cohorts during a gig in the US after lead singer Bruce Dickinson "disrespected Ozzy".

This article is pointless! What exactly has this got to do with anything about metal? There are plently of 'altercations' in RnB or Rap and that sort of music... it's so sad that metal gets stereotyped like this... :(

OMFG!!! This article nearly killed me, i only sign on to yahoo to check my mail and i see it entitled "Heavy metal guitarist stabbed blah blah blah..." with a picture of matt heafy!! well i stopped breathing, my heart in my throat... i just lost my dog on monday, i didn't want to loose him too!!! Mahn yahoo really needs to get appropriate pictures for their articles

Missing my point ... wasn't making any comment on what's already been posted here ... I like all kinds of music from hip-hop to death metal. My point is that all music has its merits regardless of type, so where's the problem here ?!?

What a load of total bull.... Metal's no different to any other type of music. You're judging an entire genre on one crazy woman from godknowswhere. And 'rival leaders of a satanic circle'? Stop bullsh*tting and learn to write a useful article....

Whom ever wrote this article obviously knows nothing about black metal or that scene. It was not a "satanic leaders" thing, and was not a power struggle. People should seriously get the facts before they spout off at the mouth.
