A Brit of a Flop
Presenters James Corden and Matthew Horne provided few laughs on stage, whilst little was seen of co-host Kylie Minouge.
U2 kicked off the live music with a seemingly mechanical rendition of their new single ‘Get On Yer Boots', while Welsh songstress Duffy emerged as the big winner of the evening, picking up gongs for British Female Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Act and British Album.
Take That clearly stole the show with their incredible performance of ‘Greatest Day' which was set to a stunning laser light show but the group once again failed to win any awards.
Elsewhere there were few surprises. Coldplay performed Viva La Vida but were only notable by their failure to pick up a single award, The Ting Tings teamed up with a faintly off-key Estelle for a monster mash-up of their hits, whilst Girls Aloud delivered another one of their tightly choreographed dance routines.
Taking the gong for Outstanding Contribution, the Pet Shop Boys closed the event with a medley of their singles but even guest appearances from LadyGaGa and Brandon Flowers couldn't save their performance from sounding like a Butlins-esque tribute act.
An immaculately timed Coca-Cola advert featuring Duffy appeared precisely after the credits ended, leaving many critics wondering if it was healthy for the newly crowned Queen of the Brits to be engaged in such blatant promotion so soon after the event.

An award for music ???????????
What am I missing here
probably the biggest surprise win of the night and the least reported upon.
Coldplay: You are the WINNER.
The 'presenters' are not bad at what they do, they need to keep to acting. The petshop boys are has beens, the award the industry forgot to give them in 1992 I think! Take that mimed, strange, they normally do live perfs, and while they are'n't my cuppa I can respect them for that. Coldplay are well overated. COme on, play any of their LPPS more than twice and you get bored [profane]less!
