Singer and violinist Alexander Rybak has won this year's Eurovision Song Contest for Norway with his song "Fairytale".

Iceland came second in the contest followed by Azerbaijan in third and Turkey in fourth place.

Jade Ewen finished fifth with her Andrew Lloyd Webber penned track "It's My Time" giving the United Kingdom their best result in years.

I really wanted Azerbaijan to win!! I didn't like russia, I thought she sang it a bit out of tune. Jade was good, but I hated Norway's song, and I agree that alexander has really scary eyebrows...weird...

I agree with one of the above comments. Jade has an amazing voice but the song was awful. Simon Cowell should definitely get involved. Him and Andrew Lloyd Webber together maybe ... surely we would do better with that winning combo !!
Well done though Jade you did us proud! x

The Composition was good, the words made no sense, and the singing ( shouting! ) was off key!...I guess that's the reason they had the acrobats and stuff around him , to distract ! ....Overhaul the show was better this year and Graham didn't dissapoint.
Iceland should have won Though ;-)

"It's My Time (of the month)" I don't think so even with an almost good voice. Her vibrato is way out of control and makes the words unintelligible.
"Fairy Tale" what can you expect with Eurovision Song Contest? Stroke of genius by Norway to have a singer with a Slavonic name who speaks Russian.
Worst song? I think Romania with Balkan Girls (like to party, party). Again easily misinterpreted.

I think that guy doesnt have a good voice only the violin and the other music is good...

To 19 and 64:

Why do you hate Britain so much? And if you hate Britain so much, why would you express those feelings in relation to the Eurovision Song Contest?

You are truly weird. After all, there are all sorts of things that you could hate Britain for - in the ultimate scheme of things, Eurovision doesn't rate that highly tbh. The people put on a great show every year, with talented (and some not so talented) bands, but it is just a music show, made in a spirit of friendship between the countries and (most importantly) for FUN!

Generally, the British people recognise this.

Sure, the best bands hardly ever win, the voting system is still a mess, but nobody really cares - you get a very entertaining 3 hour music marathon and the votes are basically a little bit bolted on at the end.

Personally, I think the standard was very high (compared to recent years) this year. The majority of the bands had good stage shows and singers. I find it a little saddening that so many sang in English rather than their own languages. I think the Norwegian song was ok, but not great. The British song was a good entry, but there were plenty of better acts (eg. Iceland, Sweden, Malta, Azerbaijan, Spain, Finland) My flatmates think that the Finnish entry should be released this Summer. It would go down well in the clubs. They had a really good stage show too.

(also to 86) - that is precisely correct. The vast majority of British people do not want to be in the Eurozone and a large number of us want out of the EU. It is an unneccessary burden, a bureaucratic mess basically designed to line the pockets of MEPs and associated bureaucrats, at the expense not just of British taxpayers, but European taxpayers too.

Europe would be much better off with the UK out of the EU completely. The UK would certainly be happier, and the public want it. The European nations would also be better off - with the layers of bureaucracy and bull**** stripped away, the real problems throughout Europe could be solved.

Lol, I actually thought that it was one of the cheesiest songs performed..But they won! Lol.

But well done Jade, you were great!

The sad thing is that a black singer is unlikely to win the Eurovision Song Contest. The Eastern European countries have a long way to go before gut prejudices are eradicated as witness the continuing treatment of the Rroma in these countries. Comment 64 seems to beg many questions about its author's fundamental attitudes.

I wish the writer of post 64 would identify him/herself and not hide behind the "curtain of anonimity"and use this site for the sole purpose of insulting this nation(s).
I am not British by birth (Swiss national) but I love being here, the muliculturalism is what makes this country great, unfortunately there are individuals who are "the scum of the earth" (like post 64) who don't know the meaning of life, too ignorant to understand.
...and please, next time he/she writes a message on line, do consult a dictionary and learn how to spell.!!!!!!!

151. KEVIN -
post 19 you seem very bitter and twisted.us brits are not cultureless losers nor are we talentless in fact we probably are among one of the best counties in the world and i for one im very proud to be british. our song entry however not my favorite but jade done us proud. Graeham Norton was great sooo funny he had me and my kids in stiches.

152. fay -
as for the post 19 TYPICAL BRITS its not about what you wrote it is about the song get a life ....

153. HERO -
I Thought Jade was very good and Andrew Lloyd Webber spent a lot of time and effort getting a better song for us and put his reputation on the line, but we must keep it up as our previous years have been utter tosh, come on Gary Barlow your turn next year!

154. Jacky -
I'm sure half of these European countries are made up ...... :-)

I wrote the following to number 19 but after having read the other comments I'm now sending it out to number 64 and those who, in an attempt to defend Britain, answer 19 and 64 with similar racist overtones. YOU ARE NOT HELPING! Einstein was a refugee... what if the world had turned its back on him? Many foreign people come to Britain with a genuine will to work, and many only add to the richness and culture of our country. Being a dole-dossing parasite does not depend on which country you are from... they are all over the world, so either keep your ignorance to yourself or better still, INFORM YOURSELF!!
Where does all the hate come from? Such venom is not healthy you know. I think it is a bit harsh of you to be so prejudiced against an entire nation just because you don't agree with what people have said. Don't most people support their own countries? People should be able to express their opinions freely without being insulted in such a way. All you have managed to do by poisoning this forum with your prejudice is to show everyone your ignorance and lack of intellect. Well done! Nice one!!
PS This is a forum about Eurovision, for god's sake!

156. JSS -
Where were San Marino, Luxembourg, Lichtenstein and the Faroe Islands when the chips were down?

157. Yahoo! Music User -
Yes ladycaroleleslie I noticed it aswell, did make me laugh to be fair!! But the rest of the performance went very very well and I think we should of been higher than 5 which we were for quite a bit during the result recall. It was quite though to be fair. I do not understand how Norway won though, when we were going through every song and then he came on and Graham said he was the bookies choice to win, I choked on my food and yet it turned out to be true!! He can not sing!! He is an excellent violinist but he is not a singer!!

158. Ramona -
Eurovision song contest is always the same, it doesn't have to represent a good song or a good singer, however Jade has done a good work for her country and to come 5th was an amazing achievemnt! I congratulate her for her that.

I was disgusted at all the political voting once again. The Eastern Europeans who all voted for each other, no matter how rubbish the songs were didnt give us one vote between them but cant wait to come over and live in our country and sponge off us tax payers, disgusting!

160. Yahoo! Music User -
We are NOT useless and talentless (19) and as for having no culture - what planet are you on? Such anger and bitterness - can only be jealousy!
