Powter’s Bad Day is UK’s Most Played Song
Daniel Powter's dreary ballad Bad Day has become the UK's most played song over the last five years according to the PRS, the organisation that collects songwriter's royalties.
Kelly Clarkson claimed second place with Because of You followed by James Blunt's turgid anthem You're Beautiful. The Scissor Sisters I Don't Feel Like Dancing and Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars complete the top 5. See the full list below.
Commercial radio has suffered heavy losses over the last few years, losing many of its listeners to alternative forms of broadcasting. With playlists like these it's easy to see why!

The radio will have the same death as cassette as they play the same songs and continous adeverts.
Why cant orginal and new talent be played?
I don't know why, but Take That's shine conjures up mental images of Jonathan King dancing in a parody of a traditional Royal Variety Show performance kind of way. As for James Blunt(Isn't that cockney rhyming slang) I had more than enough of that song and that filthy ditty about three wise men having a semi by the sea, how very rude! I did try to use my imagination as to the question posed "where are you now" all I could think of was some nudist beach. I find the whole lot unabidable, the backing vocals on sweet escape(woooooooh woooooooooh) sound like a woodpigeon. Chasing cars makes me want to play on the M25. In actual fact, I can safely say that I would rather snort cayenne pepper or even listen to Kajagoogoo's greatest hits than listen to any of that drivel- and I thought I despised Kajagoogoo.
I am of the opinion that the advertisments on commercial radio are more enjoyable than the music, and to be honest, I have suffered eczema less irritating.
The next survey will show Frankie's Gun by the Felice Brothers(?) is tops or I'll eat my safety helmet!
AGHHHHHH
i hate that song-it is just stupid!
there are other things to listen to as well!!!
You obviously haven't considered the fact that commercial radio is an occupational hazard of leaving your abode, right down to a quick trip to your local convenience store. Whoever wrote comment No. 34, you are clearly lacking logic as I don't think anyone who is complaining listens to these awful songs as an elective form of deliberate self harm, they are thrust upon us like auditory rape.
