John Lydon Accused of Racist Attack

Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke suffered facial bruising and a split lip following an alleged racist attack by Sex Pistols singer John Lydon at Barcelona's Summercase festival on Saturday.

Okereke, claims the attack took place after he attempted to engage Lydon in conversation backstage however Lydon became "intimidating and aggressive while his entourage responded with a racist tirade, including the statement, 'your problem is your black attitude'." Three members of Lydon's staff then allegedly attacked Okereke.

Several other musicians witnessed the fight including Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson who was said to have intervened in the brawl. Spanish and UK police are now thought to be investigating the incident.

Lydon made the headlines last month for his verbal attack on Welsh pop startlet Duffy at London's prestigious Mojo Awards. He is also being sued by a female assistant who he allegedly punched in the face during a frenzied argument over accommodation at a five-star Los Angeles hotel.

This does not suprise me as I had an encounter with this man some 25 years ago, in the Roby arms pub Finsbury Park London, he came in swaggered up to my friends and I telling us that we were "up jumped middle class kids with rich parents to buy us our motorcycles" I was offended by this comment and not knowing this man also (being unemployed at the time), took umbrige at his assumption confronted him, his 'bodygards' 2 of them pulled thier jackets aside to reveal they where carrying guns in their waistbands, it was like being in a hollywood senario. I have never forgotten this and I wish all the worst luck to him and may he go to prison and the key's be lost. from Robert B.

Note the operative word "Accused". It doesn't meant that he actually did it, or was responsible for any racist abuse that may have been given.

Deep down, I think John Lydon is an unhappy man, the occasional bit of obnoxious behaviour is done and dusted,- so often is not healthy. He's a talented, intelligent man-so use your talents better John- we all love your really.... xxx

THIS IS A DIRECT QUOTE FROM ABOVE ARTICLE READ IT CAREFULLY BEFORE LAYING BLAME I AM NEUTRAL IN THIS I REMEMBER THE SEX PISTOLS FROM MY OWN TEEN YEARS BUT HEY THIS IS NOW 32YRS LATER surely john has mellowed somewhat!!!!

It says that 'his entourage responded with a racist tirade' and that they attacked him. I understand that lydon is an idiot sometimes but it doesn't say that Lydon attacked or was racist. I'm against racisim, but judging by this Lydon was mearly there. His entourage should be punished and ashamed.
