Katy Perry in Knife Controversy

Pop sensation Katy Perry has caused outrage in the UK after a photo of her posing with a knife was discovered on the internet.

The picture was part of a series of photos taken to promote her debut album One of the Boys but was discarded as a leading image.

Perry who is best known for her single I Kissed A Girl which topped the UK charts earlier in the year, is still to comment on the picture.

Richard Taylor, father of knife victim Damilola Taylor, told The Sun newspaper "This woman's behaviour is unacceptable.

"She must be out of her mind to pose for a picture like this. There is nothing glamorous about knives - they wreck families."

What are your thoughts on the photograph? Is Katy at fault for posing with a deadly weapon or are media being too sensitive?  Could this picture influence young people to carry knives or is it  simply a harmless PR stunt?

Get a life you trendy leftie twats!knives like guns do not kill people-people kill people,always have always will.Its part of our make up.Are we going to ban cars,trees,dogs,water,wind etc as these have also taken our loved ones?Some make it and some don`t,stop crying!

granted katie perry should have used her brain & said no to this photo but it is unfair to say that she is promoting knife culture, the people that carry these weapons make a consious decision to do so and a miguided popstar shouldnt be made a skapegoat

This is disgusting, she should apologise at once, whislt no one over their 30's give a damn about her, millions of kids do, what the hwll was she thinking about even doing this style of pose in the first place, despite the recent stabbing???? Dispicable, nasty little girl

If it was never meant to be seen then why is there so much fuss. Also surely it was the promoter/photographer who would have suggested the pose, why aren't they being blamed?

When somebody thinks that it is right to brandish a knife on a popstars picture, then there are more stupid and naive people in his world than anyone thought possible. There is a comment on this page that thinks it's right and that the world has gone mad, well the world has gone mad and pictures like this don't help the situation. I like your music kate but this is a disgrace and you know it!

people will carry knives even if she hadn't done the picture, honestly i don't think it will make any difference peole are just being over sensitive.

The day a young person thinks 'hey that Katy Perry held up a knife in a photo, i think I'll go and stab someone' is the day pigs fly.

The picture is CLEARLY a homage to a shot of Malcolm McDowell as Alex from Clockwork Orange. Google it (or indeed yahoo it) and youll see what I mean.

Fact is the girl's american, the album is on an american label - shes probably not heard about the current issues in the UK and probably never heard of Damilola Taylor or the lad who got stabbed the other day in liverpool.

You must feel sad for people who have to rely on controversy to sell records! Make better tunes dear!! Young kids are really easily led so pictures like this just make them think its cool to carry knives not realizing its about the dumbest thing you can do!!

totally wrong,think of all the famalies who have lost loves ones because people "think" its cool to carry a knife. its a disgrace!!! no amount of money would ever make me pose with a knife its sick, she is influencing the younger generation thats its cool and ok to cary knives. maybe when she grows up she will realise what a silly girl she has been.

this was most likly not her ideia this is how the media rolls now days.
katy is not encourageing knife crime shes using the knife to say she has a side to her that is a bit daring and dnt we all?
carrying a wepon is not the way but i bet if katy could explain she would say she is against knife crimes!!

katys i kissed a girl and now this picture cant you see this is a girl trying to sand out when in fact she did go the wrong way about it the media seems to be it own worse enamy at the moment

I doubt very much that it would have been her decision to pose with a knife, so maybe you need to dig a liitle deeper and also blame the record company, the promotions company the photographer and a whole host of other people whose decision it was to take the photograph. I am sure they knew that this photograph might cause some concern so it has brought her more exposure as well but maybe some unwanted exposure that they had not bargained on.

I think it's a very bad idea to have posed with a knife. We all know what's happening in today's world in the UK and knife crime is a very big problem. Anyone claiming otherwise is, to put it simple, an idiot. And for a high-profile person to be posing with a knife is just right out wrong and stupid.

I'm pretty sure the knife represents her as being "one of the boys"like the album claims. And she's so young, I expect at the time it seemed like a cool idea - Perhaps the question should be put to her premotions team, I doubt this has a lot to do with Katy herself.
