Question of the Week: Should Ross Resign?

Posted Tue 28 Oct 2008 3:43PM GMT by Mitch Carter in The Guestlist
Unless you've been living in a cave for the last few days, you'll have found it impossible to miss the furore over Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross' controversial outburst on Brand's Saturday evening radio show.

The pair have been heavily criticised due to a series of answer phone messages left for actor Andrew Sachs in which Brand claims to have had sex with Sachs' granddaughter. The full story can be read here.

Listen to the interview in full below and let us know your verdict on this week's question:

Was Russell Brand right to resign from the BBC and should Jonathan Ross follow his lead?

Overpaid pair of bores, not funny in the slightest get rid of them both and save the licence payers some money. Load of crap!

22. JOHN -
Morons, sad little people, overrated and over paid

I think this is an over reaction, banning brand would only have negative repercusions for the BBC from his massive fan base- he's the BBC's number 1 podcast, so they aren't going to touch him. I don't think his shows should be live though, he has proved, once again, that he can't be trusted, so he should be moderated so this kind of thing won't happen again.

24. JOHN -
they should have sacked them ages ago what a waste of taxpayers moneyeven before this uproar

25. George -
Ask em if they would like it done to their loved ones TOSSERS

26. Yahoo! Music User -
Flush them down the bog.

27. J -
Two "funny" guys - trying to dig themselves out of a hole on air . Ouch !I'm cringing for them. It's like watching someone bang themselves in the head until they pass out !

28. DAVID -
These Crude, ignorant, untalented so called 'stars' should be sacked immediately
The BBC has a problem with all decent listeners.

29. WILLIAM -
He should be banned not only from the BBC but any radio or TV station and Ross should be banned as well

Good God everyone chillout - they said sorry - which everyone has a right to do - they shouldnt be sacked - jee wiz with the world the way it is and everyone is crying for these two to be hung by the goolies - give over. It was funny and I admit they maybe went too far but it was a joke that went too far maybe but `leave it out` they dont need sacked.

?@niether of these two are comedians if they didn't swear all the time they would have nothing. where has all the proper comics gone.
allso someone ought to introduce brand to a bar of soap he allways looks dirty and scruffy
all the time.

I have never listened to the programme referred to, but if half of the reports are true they should not be sacked or any other official punishment, they should just be ignored. Decent people should neither watch or listen to them ever. Russel Brands pretence of anapology simply added insult to injury.
I used to like Jonathan Ross, but he has gone over the top on the comedy awards show too often in any case.

33. Megan -
To be honest, this is such a small thing taken all the wrong way, cause they ALWAYS do things like this. And to be fair why would you put two men like Russel and johnathon together? You're asking for trouble. And i think people taking offence other than the family are abit silly. As its no ones business but their own, so to those people posting they should die is a little extreme.

Both are particulary untalented and boring..
They shld be sacked for that alone. I never have liked Brand and the shine has long since left Ross. Their immature sick behaviour has signs of desperation..SACK THEM AND THE EDITORS WHO ULTIMATELY SHLD HAVE STOPPED IT.

35. RONALD -
Russel must be sacked because he thinks he rules the world with his dirty humour,he does not know when to stop.....

The Jonathon Ross Shows are terrible both on the radio and T.V., that is when I switch off.

These things should never have been said, the BBC's standards are slipping very badly, the pay these so called Stars get is far too much.
and tghe skills they have are minimal.

37. Yahoo! Music User -
Ross is almost 50, "earns" £6m a year from licence payers money, It's about time he grew up and showed some responsability.
Brand is just talentless, and since when did adding numourous swearwords to a joke make it any funnier.

38. Yahoo! Music User -
I never have liked Russell and can take or leave Johnathon but for all that and having heard the calls they deserve an apology to those who find it offensive BUT in no way should they loose their jobs. It was done as a laugh and whist some may think it was out of order a laugh is what it was.

tat is gas funniest ting ever haha

Both are not funny, they are overpaid and should be banned and sacked by the BBC. BBC needs to up its standards and not allow people like this to be paid the amounts they are from the public purse.
