Question of the Week: Should Ross Resign?

Posted Tue 28 Oct 2008 3:43PM GMT by Mitch Carter in The Guestlist
Unless you've been living in a cave for the last few days, you'll have found it impossible to miss the furore over Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross' controversial outburst on Brand's Saturday evening radio show.

The pair have been heavily criticised due to a series of answer phone messages left for actor Andrew Sachs in which Brand claims to have had sex with Sachs' granddaughter. The full story can be read here.

Listen to the interview in full below and let us know your verdict on this week's question:

Was Russell Brand right to resign from the BBC and should Jonathan Ross follow his lead?

its a joke, on the same page on yahoo they had gary glitter - a convicted paedophile, scooping up £100,000 for his music being used in an ad, and sky news running ross and brand as big breaking news doing what they always do - messing about. i reckon the people who rang in complaining don't even listen to these guys on the radio. they just picked up the interview on 'you tube'. the radio show is in the night, the 'lady' in question is a member of a burlesgue group called 'the satanic sluts' and andrew sachs is more shocked by these phone messages than what georgina is getting up to? andrew sachs needs counselling, georgina needs to go talk to her grandfather more often. brand will now probably get a job on the sky network and ross will not be as funny as he will have to be more 'careful'. the producer of the show - have they been named? they let it on air, it wasn't live!

no way should jhonthan ross get fired or resign it would be a great lose to the bbc and they know it. it was just a joke and andrew has acepted their apology so ppl get over it.in america they make far

All I can say is ,theres people locked away in mental institutions saner than that pair of total tossers SACK THEM .People are losing there jobs across the country ,losing there homes ect.and Ross is paid six million pounds a year to do dribble like that .The mind boggles ,

104. Spannerman -
got to go sad men

105. KEITH -
Yes, I think it is time that J. Ross was removed from the BBC TV and radio. He is so full of his own self importance. He is extreemly rude to his guests and to the general publis. I don't know how can the BBC justifies his £6mil salary. It's time to go Ross!!

106. TRACEY -
if it had'nt been true then fair enough; but she admitted she slept with him.she's happy to take the money the news papers are paying her so she's not that upset.

107. MELISSIA -
I like JR but this was totally unaccpetable. But the pubilc has had their say but what about the family and also the grand daughter as nothing has been realesed from them. They should sue both JR, Russell Brand and also bbc who allowed this to happen.
I hate Russell brand and always have. He's sooooo Childish.

Ross, a Father of a sixteen year old girl ,and the other dimwit Brand need to choose their words carefully and stop slagging sachs,s grandaughter off theres an old saying PEOPLE IN GLASS HOUSES SHOULDNT THROW STONES
wonder how they will like it one one day when they are on the receiving end

109. sandra d -
get rid of them both it time for ross to GO

110. Yahoo! Music User -
Sack them both. They were already an expensive luxury the BBC and the licience holders could not afford.
Who's next ? Gordon Ramsey ( Oh F... ) ??????

111. Denise -
I have just listened to the whole thing and I expected it to be much worse having read so much about it. Yes it was rude and uncomfortable but parts of it also seem to have been blown up out of all proportion. And if you are going to sleep with Russell Brand perhaps you can expect to have it broadcast?? These two are like children who have got carried away and didn't know where to stop. Their employers though know what they are like and are just as responsible for the outcry.

112. Yahoo! Music User -
they are both the biggest tossers going!!!!!
yes ross should be sacked!!!!!

113. William -
Russell Brand did the right thing in resigning. He is talentless.

Jonathon Ross should resign as he has been getting gradually more offensive over the years and thinks he can say anything.

Time to grow up Jonathan and give up. One day you'll be funny.

GET OVER IT. it wasnt even sachs that started the campaign to get them sacked it was his granddaughter who should be used to those kind of comments giving that she works basically as a stripper. shes just capitalising on the fact that those coimments were made by famous people, if a random person said those things no one would care. shes just attention seeking.

116. STEWART -
THEY HAVE ALREADY APOLOGISED AND SACHS HAS ACCEPTED IT. JUST GET OVER IT. AND BESIDES ITS A BIT RICH FOR SACHS GRANDDAUGTHER TO BE GETTING UPSET SEEING AS SHES A STRIPPER... SHES JUST LOOKING TO GET HER 15 MINUTES OF FAME.

117. VINCENT -
SACK THEM BOTH AS THEY ARE BOTH SO UNFUNNY , JUST CRUDE DUDES.

118. DAVID -
yes i think that both of them should be dismissed. no excuse

119. francis b -
What a disgrace that the beeb should subject its viewers and listeners to these two idiots, because that is what they are!. both should be banned from the entertainment world.

A true clean sensible artist,

120. charles -
