Beyonce Steals Songwriter From Leona

Simon Cowell was left reeling today after Beyonce recorded a song that was originally intended for Leona Lewis.

The track called ‘Halo' was written for Leona by Ryan Tedder, lead singer for soft-pop act One Republic, who also wrote Leona's transatlantic smash ‘Bleeding Love'.

Cowell was said to be shocked by the news that Beyonce had recorded the track as he had previously agreed with Tedder that the song would be recorded by Leona.

An insider at SongBMG, Leona's record label, said: "Leona's diary is so rammed it didn't look like she could record it until next year. Ryan didn't want to hang around so he gave it to Beyonce".

Although it's hard to fault Beyonce for wanting to perform the track, I can't help thinking that the song would suit Leona's tones a lot more. Listen to Beyonce's version of the track below and let us know who you would prefer to hear sing 'Halo'.

i think that this song should of been sung by leona as it doesnt suit beyonce's style and i also think beyonce should of asked simon cowel first before she said yes if the song writer had an agreement with simon he should of keept it.

Without a doubt,Leona's voice would do this song more justice as Leona sings with sincere emotion of which just is'nt there with Beyonce.

It so would have been worth holding out for Leona, better to wait for release by the right artist than to settle for whoever happened to be available the soonest

love the song but think Leona's voice would have been so much more suited especially for the more high notes and powerful bits .
I also think beyonce sounds a bit like rihanna on this song

I do think it will sell whatever seeen as it has been given to a big star such as her but i do think Leona would of made a better job of it.

beyonce has a amazing voice! she's my idol + thats definately not her. The track has been messed with and the tones have been changes, look at the version on utube.com.

leona lewis would be much better suited vocally for this song. Beyonce Just can't hit the required notes without screeching. I'd much prefered to have heard leona singing this shame because it could be a really good song.

Beyonce is a very good singer, but she does not have the vocal range which this songs instrumental development requires from the singer...sorry m'lady, you did as good a job as you could do, but you just don't have the tool for the job
