Beyonce Steals Songwriter From Leona

Simon Cowell was left reeling today after Beyonce recorded a song that was originally intended for Leona Lewis.

The track called ‘Halo' was written for Leona by Ryan Tedder, lead singer for soft-pop act One Republic, who also wrote Leona's transatlantic smash ‘Bleeding Love'.

Cowell was said to be shocked by the news that Beyonce had recorded the track as he had previously agreed with Tedder that the song would be recorded by Leona.

An insider at SongBMG, Leona's record label, said: "Leona's diary is so rammed it didn't look like she could record it until next year. Ryan didn't want to hang around so he gave it to Beyonce".

Although it's hard to fault Beyonce for wanting to perform the track, I can't help thinking that the song would suit Leona's tones a lot more. Listen to Beyonce's version of the track below and let us know who you would prefer to hear sing 'Halo'.

A great song, love it! Beyonce does it well but i think Leona Lewis would have suited this song so much better, Beyonce could not hit some of the notes quite right, its a shame Tedder could not have waited till Leona was free to sing it, it will be a hit with Beyonce singing it but can't help thinking it would have been bigger hit with Leona.

Beyonce is a great singer of that there is no doubt, but unfortunately people will automatically think Leona has been stitched up by Beyonce now. Personally I do think Leonas voice would have sounded more emotionally balanced for the song. Sorry Beyonce.

I like the song and Beyonce but I think she is trying to sound like Leona and I am afraid Leona would have done it better

I dont think this song suits beyonce and it may suit leona better but i would have to listen to it. I would not go out and buy this track is i`m not keen on it.But i do like beyonce music

Great song and terrific interpretation from Beyonce. Obviously I have not heard Leona's version of this song and probably never will,but as M/S Knowles has a much wider range in her voice and she is a more talented artist,it has to be said that Beyonce comes out on top. She is also better looking and much sexier than Miss Lewis

I dont mind it, I think Leona would have been a bit wet for this song that obviously needs some edge.

They have done Leona a favour this song is repatative rubbish!
Leona is made for much better stuff than this.
Poor mixing as well far to heavy on the bass and crappy claping.
Simon comes up smelling of roses again LOL.

i think beyonce sang it beautifully, although i kinda agree with everyone else but leona lewis is getting a bit boring now
