Beyonce Steals Songwriter From Leona

Simon Cowell was left reeling today after Beyonce recorded a song that was originally intended for Leona Lewis.

The track called ‘Halo' was written for Leona by Ryan Tedder, lead singer for soft-pop act One Republic, who also wrote Leona's transatlantic smash ‘Bleeding Love'.

Cowell was said to be shocked by the news that Beyonce had recorded the track as he had previously agreed with Tedder that the song would be recorded by Leona.

An insider at SongBMG, Leona's record label, said: "Leona's diary is so rammed it didn't look like she could record it until next year. Ryan didn't want to hang around so he gave it to Beyonce".

Although it's hard to fault Beyonce for wanting to perform the track, I can't help thinking that the song would suit Leona's tones a lot more. Listen to Beyonce's version of the track below and let us know who you would prefer to hear sing 'Halo'.

Should be Leona, song wrote for her tone of voice. Beyonce trying to copy her vocal style.

it sounds like someone is killing a lot of cats! Surely songs that are written for a certain artist are written for their vocal talent and ability and lets be honest beyonce can't sing like Leona. Tis song has Leona written all over it.

I think Simon Cowell will probably no the ins and outs of the legal system regarding loss of potential earnings. The music world is a tough place and i am sure the guy who wrote the song doesn't care who sings it as long as he makes money. I am sure Simon is no angel when it comes to this sort of thing after all he makes his money by churning out acts ione after the other and once they have made his money he moves on to the next one. I am sure he won't lose any sleep over it and i bet he doesn't care less about Ryan Tedder. Any way both singers are over rated it would have been sang better by Chico

Helloo this is sophie. i like both singers but that song was defonatly made for leona. the low tones just dosent sound right + i think leona could do it easy.

Not a Beyonce fan, and this just confirms it she is over rated, and this style is definitely not for her. Possibly Leona couldn't have done it better, but we'll never know!!!!

IF it were a contractual agreement then, Simon should sue however, if not, there will be PLENTY of Songs in the works for the lovely Leona to record. Let the baby have her bottle. How about trying to be original and writing her own? HEY! There's a thought!

leons'a voice would be more clearer and refind... beyonce does an ok job on the song but am sure leona would be great
