Beyonce Steals Songwriter From Leona

Simon Cowell was left reeling today after Beyonce recorded a song that was originally intended for Leona Lewis.

The track called ‘Halo' was written for Leona by Ryan Tedder, lead singer for soft-pop act One Republic, who also wrote Leona's transatlantic smash ‘Bleeding Love'.

Cowell was said to be shocked by the news that Beyonce had recorded the track as he had previously agreed with Tedder that the song would be recorded by Leona.

An insider at SongBMG, Leona's record label, said: "Leona's diary is so rammed it didn't look like she could record it until next year. Ryan didn't want to hang around so he gave it to Beyonce".

Although it's hard to fault Beyonce for wanting to perform the track, I can't help thinking that the song would suit Leona's tones a lot more. Listen to Beyonce's version of the track below and let us know who you would prefer to hear sing 'Halo'.

It is a song for Leona. Beyonce's voice is too flat for it. Needs a the stronger voice of Leona.

i agree with gem 110% beyonce suits this song well but she could have a faster song for her voice

i think that the song is really good but it's a shame leona couldn't sing it cause she's much better that beyonce.Leona would suit it better.

Honestly im not normally one for this style of music. But this song reminds me A LOT of Rihanna's "Unmbrella". Even if you dont agree i think you would that Rihanna's voice would fit perfectly.

Leona would be better singing this song as Beyonce sounds she is straining to reach some of the notes. I hope Leona will record it as well as it is a beautiful song.

I don't think it matters much who sings it to be honest, its not an outstanding song. Sounds like several others, particularly Rhianna's 'my unbrella'.

Sounds ok to me.......... the songwriter has a living to earn so fair play to him for giving the song away.....it's ok for cowell to say wait with all his millions already in the bank...if Leona thinks she is too big a star to bother with it until next year then she deserves to lose the song.......

Leona's voice is perfection. Beyonce has a very average voice. However, this song sounds similar to songs leona's already sung so maybe it's better she doesn't...leona would pull it off better but I'm sure she'll have better songs. Beyonce's music has become to rubbish lately, maybe she needed this.
