Chris Brown Is Guilty

Posted Tue 23 Jun 2009 11:23AM BST by Dave Rumour in Snap, Crackle and Pop
It's taken almost six months and more column inches than Paris Hilton could muster in a decade but finally the Chris Brown case has reached a conclusion. The US R&B wonderboy turned Rihanna's maligned assailant appeared in court overnight to face charges of assault and making criminal threats. The pair were said to have fought back in February before the Grammy Awards and few can have missed the results in a leaked photo, which appeared to show his former girlfriend battered and bruised.

With Rihanna expected to testify against Brown at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the scene was set for drama and the gathered family members, paparazzi and legal officials got exactly that when the accused suddenly changed his plea to guilty. After weeks of protesting his innocence and trying to get the hearing delayed, Brown was sentenced to five years' probation and ordered to do six months of community service.

On announcing his punishment, Judge Patricia Schnegg congratulated Brown, who must stay at least 50 yards from Rihanna, except at entertainment industry events when the distance is reduced to 10 yards, on his last minute change of heart, explaining: "I think it's commendable that you took responsibility for your conduct, sir". Meanwhile, Rihanna called the sentence "fair", despite the fact that Brown could have been jailed for four years. He agreed, saying it was a "fair and just resolution".

What do you think of the judge's verdict against Chris Brown? Is this "a fair and just resolution"? Or should he have been sent to prison? Have your say here...

If it was a normal person they would have got four years if not more. The only reason he got off lightly is because he is in the limelight and famous.which in alot of peoples eyes its wrong.hang him by his balls.

Justice should not be on the ground of who is concern...it should be handed out equally to all cos if chris was wtout the millions he command,,,i bet u he would have been sentence to 5 years in prison.

What is the world coming too? Hes assualted a girl and will do it again. This boy is a public figure so I think its important people see that you pay for what you do and in this case he has gotten off too easily. Poor Rhianna. Shame on him. I will never consider buying his music and will change the station when he comes on.

Hello everyone, regarding the vedict of mr Brown and miss Rihanna. If mr Brown has recognised the mistakes he did I think that's good.
Maybe his lordship the judge should re-consider a kind of remision for mr Brown, but the comunity work has to less.
Mr Brown you must control your temper incase next time.

Didnt he beat her so badly she lost unconciousness. How can any judge do this. Just because he is famous doesnt mean he can beat a woman up. This sets such a bad example to young boys who look up to him, they will see this as ok to do now. I hope his music career flops after this.

Yes, what Chris did was/is wrong. I don't condone such immorality BUT that doesn't mean I won't be listening to his songs. I will definitely listen, dance to and enjoy his songs. The kid is talented. We all have our demons but most importantly, don't let those demons f**k up your life. Peace. I'm out.

5 years and 6 months community service plus, he's got to stay 50 yards away from Rhianna except when they are at awards, where it's reduced to 10 yards. Why don't they just scrap the sentance. It's more like a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again. What clear message is that sending out that sending out to every one?
