“Simpsons” honour Jacko

This weekend, the near mythical episode will be broadcast on American TV, a week after Jackson died, aged 50. The idea was first suggested immediately after his passing but the continuing rights wrangle has only now been cleared, giving fans the chance to see one of the show's finest 20 or so minutes. Amongst the highlights are Homer's madness-inspiring pink shirt, a touching birthday song for Lisa and the immortal line: "I'm Bart Simpson, who the hell are you?" "I'm Michael Jackson..."
Of course, the relationship between two of the 20th century's most significant cultural phenomenons did not end here, with the pop idol going on to co-write international chart-topper "Do The Bartman". But as tributes go, this takes some beating, because it is not only funny but also represents, in a roundabout way, the very demons that tormented Michael Jackson throughout his life and career. RIP.
