Jacko To Rock O2?

Posted Thu 9 Jul 2009 11:55AM BST by Dave Rumour in Snap, Crackle and Pop
Just days after his memorial service took place, organisers look to be getting closer to confirming the full details of a Michael Jackson tribute concert. Ever since his untimely demise, two weeks ago, the media has been flooded with unsubstantiated claims that music's biggest stars were lining-up to form a star-studded roll-call in honour of the unforgettable entertainer. Well, a UK tabloid has today named the date as August 29, the King Of Pop's 51st birthday.

The venue, perhaps understandably, looks to be London's O2 Arena, which was scheduled to play host to Jacko's record-breaking 50 date run of concerts, due to kick-off this week. Initially, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Stevie Wonder were amongst the names mooted to appear but none of these have been mentioned in the latest reports. However, these do include Shaheen Jafargholi, the British teenager who was amongst the most warmly received at Michael's emotional memorial on Tuesday.

Also rumoured to be appearing are the late star's brothers, led by Jermaine, and sisters Janet and La Toya, while his children, Prince Michael, Paris and Blanket, who played such a key role during events at the Staples Center, will also attend the show in their father's honour. AEG promoter Randy Philips, who is overseeing the bash, says the world "needs to see this production", promising the original stage design, pyrotechnics, dancers and even a hologram of the man himself. "It would have been, which is the tragedy here, one of the most amazing shows ever, so at some point we want the world to see that", said Philips.

He was an entertainer you had to watch, fascinating and an enigma who lived 2or 3 lives in one- people say he was weird and unhappy but I think his collaborations with some of the worlds leading artists and producers must have made him very happy together with his love of family, his children, friends and fans. So let's rejoice that he lived.
