Google Editors

Posted Thu 15 Oct 2009 5:44PM BST by Johnny Famethrowa in Touching The Void
Let's face it, no-one is ever going to call Editors the most innovative guitar band on Earth. You're probably more likely to hear them called the most innovative guitar band on Earth when it comes to copying Joy Division. Do they care, wonders Famehrowa? Why would they when they're busy at home coming up with bold and fresh ways of promoting their new album, "In This Light And On This Evening"?

This week, the Birmingham quartet revealed their "hacked" version of Google Earth, which gives fans the chance to explore both the record and the town which inspired it. "I swear to God, in this light and on this evening / London's become the most beautiful thing I've seen..." intones singer Tom Smith, while you use the mapping service to locate the band and check-out whether they've covered "Love Will Tears Us Apart" again this time around. More seriously, this surely deserves an award...
