File-Sharing By Joss Stone

Posted Tue 3 Nov 2009 6:41PM GMT by Johnny Famethrowa in Touching The Void
There is a clear, intelligent battleground being drawn by musicians in the file-sharing debate as we approach 2010. In the red corner, we have the likes of Radiohead star Ed O'Brien and Pink Floyd's Nick Mason, who believe downloads can be better monetised. In the blue corner, the likes of Lily Allen demand a more hardline approach, which could see the government prosecuting fans who step out of line. Joss Stone has been notably quiet on the subject. Until now!

In a new interview, the singer offers us all a clear path forward. "When we have the opportunity to giveaway free music, I believe that we should. Because music should be shared", she explains, reasonably. Then, displaying that mad glint in her eye that was last saw at the 2007 BRITs, she continues: "I got music for free. It's just there. I get to hear it. I get to listen to it. It's in the sound. It's in the air. You can't charge somebody for enjoying music. Not really. Let's not be silly", she blunders, immediately destroying every economic model since the dawn of pop'n'roll. All apologies, Lily.

Well done Joss, what an intelligent lady!!..the charts do make everyone `seem` good...its been happening for years, Oasis for example, hyped up because of sales...Prince only got 1 number one does that mean hes rubbish? NO, he`s one of the most prolific and talented artists ever. MC Nonam and DJ Never heardof you can get a number one and suddenly they`re famous, but it`s usually rehashes of 80`s songs or ruining of classics. Joss got her head screwed on. I make my own music for the itnernet, not money, just so people can hear my creativity!

Why can't you charge someone for enjoying Music?

I don't understand this try before you buy c***. Watch it on MTV or listen to the radio, if you like it, buy it. Simples.
