As Britney Spears continues her seemingly serene trundle around America's enormodomes, on the opening leg of the "Circus" world tour, there can surely only be one ring-master now. With the bad hair and no pants days behind her, the pop icon seems as close to being in control as for many moons. But Famethrowa can't help but wonder if, in fact, it is father Jamie who is cracking the whip, as he has since January 31, 2008, when her madness reached critical mass and judges ordered a virtual intervention?

Take a closer look at the recent headlines and you'll find that earlier this month Jamie Spears had three dancers thrown off the tour after they were allegedly found to be taking drugs. "They begged to be given a second chance but were shown the door", a source claimed, the powers-that-be insisting "such behaviour won't be tolerated". It's now emerged that another two members of the crew were axed last week after fighting with police in Pittsburgh following a show in the city. A statement has been posted on the singer's official website distancing her from the fracas and insisting, once again, that she "does not support or tolerate this type of behaviour."



However, perhaps more sinister than all of the this is the leak of the above voicemail Britney apparently left for her legal team in January, in which she revealed the ongoing struggle at the heart of the Spears camp. The message is as follows: "I'm calling again because I wanted to make sure that during the process of eliminating the conservatorship that my father has threatened me several times, that, you know, he'll take my children away. I just wanted to be guaranteed that everything will be fine with the process and that you guys are taking care of everything. That things will stay the same as far as my custodial time."

News of the voicemail, which certainly sounds genuine and suggests Britney is deeply unhappy with the conservatorship order, coincides with reports today that one of the singer's most popular fan sites faces closure after being strong-armed by her father. Breatheheavy.com owner Jordan Miller is alleged to have posted offensive content and faces legal action unless he complies. With all this drama, it's no wonder Britney Spears doesn't know what day it is, judging by this bizarre festive greeting she gave fans in Washington DC last week...
