Bono To Burn?

He was speaking this week about the toxic lifestyles which have laid many pop'n'rollers low over the years, including band mate Adam Clayton, thought to be the only non-Bible bashing hedonist in the Irish rockers. "I've been surrounded a lot in my personal life by addiction - in the last few years, in particular. I know a lot of people - not least the bass player in the band - who have had to deal with their demons in courageous ways", Bono explained.
"And maybe there's a part of me that thinks, 'Wow, I'm just an inch away'. There's no doubt about the fact that I have a wild streak and I'd be very capable of setting fire to myself. So, you know, I don't go to church for the view", he said. News of this possible blaze is sure to raise hopes for the Bono haters, many of who have already signed-up to www.thepoint.com, an online petition calling on him to retire from public life. They say Bono's "philanthropy efforts are self-righteous, ineffective and counter-productive" and have pledged to donate their fundraising efforts to charity should he depart the limelight. Well, it seems they may get their wish if someone can only find a box of matches..

Historic writing indeed.....
As for the online petition, can't imagine a more pointless use for the internet really, apart from allowing vacuous pop journalists their two seconds of fame........
As it's considered good tabloid journalism to compare people to faeces - here's another, more useful thought:- What makes the best bonfire, a pop star or a music journalist?
Answers on a postcard .....
