MGMT
It's the year 2008 and it seems we still have much to learn from pop. Here to prove it are this technicolour New York City duo, with "Time To Pretend", their fried and frazzled ode to the infinite powers and demons of rock'n'roll.
Glasvegas
Scottish four-piece tipped by Alan McGee last year and everyone this, theirs is a dark and brooding sound, in the unusual position of having no interest or love for The Libertines' legacy. This is "Daddy's Gone".
White Denim
Always on the brink of collapse, this Austin, Texas trio have corralled the best moments of rock history, standing them against a wall and whipping their sorry asses into shape, as seen on potential single of the year "Let's Talk About It".
Yeasayer
"I can't sleep when I think of the times we're living in" might be a tough opening line for some to cope with. But this Brooklyn collective have the sprawling, prog-pop tunes to match their end-of-world vision, as seen here with "2080".
Lykke Li
Think pop music is dead? Not in Sweden, where Lykke Li has become the latest local act to give the elderly genre a kick in the zimmaframe. Fans of icons as diverse as Madonna, Feist, Robyn and Bjork will go for this, "I'm Good I'm Gone".
The Teenagers
Incorrigible and naturally rude French pop collective, famed for "The Homecoming", which is like an "Animal House" porn anthem for the Facebook generation.
Shakin' Stevens
It's Shaky. What else is there to know?
Today's Famethrowa's
