You're unlikely to find too many good words about Snow Patrol around these parts. They have, amazingly, managed to dilute Coldplay's take on the perfect rock whine into terrifying new forms and for that no-one should be thankful. Happily, frontman Gary Lightbody has recently been speaking about two new solo projects he's got planned, which could yet see the end of the band. So Famethrowa looks forward to more details about "Listen Tank", his collaboration with Jacknife Lee, and country music project "Tired Pony", and less about the day job.

But it would be unfair not to praise the cracking video to their new single, "The Planets Bend Between Us", which is a digital animator's wet dream, using super-sophisticated stop-frame animation to get across the band's typically stirring, anthemic message. The track is a re-record of the original from latest album "A Hundred Millions", as Lightbody recently explained: "It's a big song now... It's the first time we've ever pointedly recorded a song to be a single". It's just a shame he couldn't be bothered to have a shave for the video shoot...
