Timberlake Protégé Unveiled

Posted Mon 22 Jun 2009 5:37PM BST by Johnny Famethrowa in Touching The Void
A couple of years back, Justin Timberlake confirmed plans to expand his pop portfolio beyond performing, with the launch of Tennman Records. The former N*SYNC star already has an acting career and men's clothing range to keep him busy, but the label, a joint venture with Universal, is expected to give him a further arm of power and influence. "We are all excited about the talent we have to offer already on our roster and I cannot wait to introduce the world to my new discoveries", he explained back in 2007.

It has now been confirmed that 18-year-old Dutch former pancake-house waitress turned YouTube sensation Esmee Denters is his first signing, following support dates on Justin's last European tour. Describing herself as "an alpha kitty", she has already released a charity collaboration with boss Timberlake and issues her first single proper, "Outta Here", on August 15, which you can see below. Describing his protégé recently, Timberlake claimed: "I've seen her writing go to another level. Some people have it, some don't, but she's the real deal!"
