J L Yes!

Posted Wed 15 Jul 2009 6:11PM BST by Johnny Famethrowa in Touching The Void
There hasn't been a fresh boyband around the charts in years. It's all manbands nowadays and let's face it, Take That are about the only one to make anything like a success of their return to the pop game. Well, stand clear then for JLS, the "X-Factor" rejects who, amazingly, look to be going to Number One this weekend. Oritse, Aston, JB and Marvin's debut single, "Beat Again", has shifted almost 50,000 copies in just two days and is looking like setting a new record for first week single sales in 2009.

But that's not all. The b-side, "Umbrella", is also flying off the shelves and is expected to make it two Top 10 hits in one week on Sunday. Speaking about their hopes for the future recently, Ortise said the group knew what they were capable of. "We just wanted to do something that was very much JLS and we wanted to come out with a smash", he said, while Aston commented: "We wanted to show that a boyband can come out of The ‘X-Factor' and go on to be a success." Job done, by the looks.

These guys are good and were beaten on the X-Factor by someone who was only equally good - but hey, someone had to win it. I and many others will be pleased to see their success. Good luck guys. You deserve it.

I thought that talentless boy bands had been replaced by the likes of Busted, McFly and later groups like The Feeling and The Script.

This single is spectacularly awful. I bet you JLS don't have a number one album, they don't get four hit singles from their debut album and they will be dropped in 2011 the week after their second album peaks at number 44!
