Guinness Book Of Weezer Records

Posted Wed 8 Oct 2008 9:24PM BST by Johnny Famethrowa in Touching The Void
As all pop's children know, Weezer are very, very good at making videos. Setting the bar awfully high right off the bat with Spike Jonze's "Happy Days" clip for "Buddy Holly" in 1994 and right up to "Pork & Beans" from earlier this year, it might seem the band spend most of their time coming up with the universally daft concepts for these clips rather than titles for their albums, which all seem to be called "Weezer".

For categorical confirmation of this, comes the video for new single "Troublemaker", which broke FIVE world records during the shoot this summer. Guinness official Stuart Claxton is understood to have been on-hand to watch over the performances on-set and, inevitably, the records are pretty silly, namely ‘Largest Game Of Dodgeball', ‘Most People In A Custard Pie Fight', ‘Most People Riding On A Skateboard', ‘Largest Air Guitar Ensemble' and ‘Longest Guitar Hero World Tour Marathon'.

Drummer Pat Wilson also apparently played the world's smallest kit in the video, which the band is now trying to get officially recognised. The clip was released this week and can be seen below, as can the tiny drums, a great Weezer trench full of nachos and a hell of a lot of people having a party in a parking lot. And for the record, here's the breakdown of what the band and their fans achieved:

‘Largest Air Guitar Ensemble'

The largest air guitar ensemble consisted of 233 participants and took place during the filming of the music video "Troublemaker" by the band Weezer in Los Angeles, California, USA on 21 August 2008.

‘Largest Game Of Dodgeball'

The largest game of dodgeball consisted of two teams of 50 people (100 total) who played against each other during the filming of the music video "Troublemaker" by the band Weezer in Los Angeles, California, USA, on 21 August 2008.

‘Longest Guitar Hero World Tour Marathon'

The longest "Guitar Hero" World Tour Marathon lasted for 10 hr 12 min 54 sec during the filming of the music video "Troublemaker" by the band Weezer in Los Angeles, California, USA, on 21 August 2008.

‘Most People In A Custard Pie Fight'

The most people in a custard pie fight was 120 during the filming of the music video "Troublemaker" by the band Weezer in Los Angeles, California, USA, on 21 August 2008.

‘Most People Riding On A Skateboard'

The most people riding on a skateboard is 22 during the filming of the music video "Troublemaker" by the band Weezer in Los Angeles, California, USA, on 21 August 2008.
