It seems Jay-Z might be in for another big surprise before the year's out. Still fresh from being informed by Noel Gallagher this summer that hip hop is too weird and multi-cultural for Glastonbury, it looks like the Jiggaman is about to discover his wife Beyonce Knowles isn't the woman he thought he'd married. Not only has the former Destiny's Child pop rocket announced plans to change her name but she's done it through the medium of her new single, "Single Ladies", which crushes the notion of such nuptials like a dead cigarette under a stiletto.

With the imminent release of her new double album, Beyonce says she wants to be known as, ahem, Sasha Fierce. One wonders if she's been mining Bonnie ‘Prince' Billy's back catalogue, reading up about Prince/Symbol on Wikipedia or hanging in Manhattan with Sean Combs, Puff Daddy, Diddy, P Diddy aka that rap moron, to make such a hair-brained decision? Whatever the reasoning, "I Am...Sasha Fierce" is due out next month and will see the star's "alter-ego" calling the shots.

"Sasha Fierce is the fun, more sensual, more aggressive, more outspoken side and more glamorous side that comes out when I'm working and when I'm on the stage", she explained. "I have someone else that takes over when it's time for me to work and when I'm onstage, this alter ego that I've created kind of protects me and who I really am." According to very strange reports, Beyonce, I mean Sasha, will make an appearance on BBC TV's "Strictly Come Dancing" to showcase the new material. Well, if it's anything like the booty-shaking, eye-popping, car-alarm sirening "Single Ladies", Famethrowa is already thinking: "Goodbye Beyonce. Hello Sasha!!"
