Welcome Back Lily Allen

This week's news was accompanied by a press release handsomely trumpeting Lily "the Wordsworth of the MySpace generation". In a bid to highlight her epic lyrical panache, a line from new single "The Fear" accompanies the PR gumpf and reads thus: "Now I lie here in the wet patch in the middle of the bed / I'm feeling pretty damn hard done by, I've spent ages giving head". Famethrowa can perhaps see the parallels here with Wordsworth's little known classic "I Masturbated Lonely As A Cloud" or maybe Lily is confusing writing deft poetry for sophisticated 21st century pop bangers with a career as staff writer on Reader's Wives?
Of course, there is more. Leaked this week was an extract of the mooted video to album track "Everyone's At It", which bids to solve the world's drug problems at a flash. The certainly entertaining clip sees Simon Cowell, Kate Moss, Britney Spears, George W Bush and Amy Winehouse all seemingly up to no good, while Lily warbles the following: "I'm not trying to say that I'm smelling of roses / But when will we tire of putting sh*t up our noses?" She may have a vague point but will anyone really buy it from such a celebrated raver? It's like asking Robert Mugabe to steer us through these treacherous economic waters. Later in the song Lily warns "The kids are in danger!" Perhaps. But who from?!

part celeb, part singer-songwriter.
part cockney ladette, part public school girl.
